Recording was done on 16 tracks. Guitars were recorded directly from the guitar as well as from the amps. During the dub down all the guitars had equal distribution.
The musical compositions are based on Charlie Christian's guitar solos that were played with Benny Goodman's Sextet and Christian's own group between 1939-1941.
Tracks A2 to B4 are complete takes with no splices. Only 32 bars of the guitar fugue from "A New Baby" were lifted from Take 1 and spliced into Take 2.
